AFNS, which stands for Armed Forces Nursing Services, operates directly under the Army Medical Command. Typically, vacancies for Army Nursing Jobs are announced in July each year.
The AFNS job entails active duty round the clock. The rank of AFNS personnel begins from the general commissioned ranks of the Pak Army, and their training is on par with that of other army officers at PMA.

Criteria of Nursing Job as an AFNS – BSc Nursing (Female)
- Age – 17 to 25 Years
- Marital Status – Female unmarried / Widow/ Separated/ Divorce without encumbrances
- Matric with Science (60% marks Minimum)
- Candidates for F.Sc (Pre-Medical) must have a minimum of 50% marks.
- Candidates appearing in F.Sc Part-II examination may apply with a HOPE certificate if they have 50% marks in 1st Year.
- Candidates should submit their F.Sc marks sheet immediately after Part-II results are declared. Training period is 4 years at AFPGMI Rawalpindi, CMH Lahore, CMH Kharian, CMH Multan, CMH Quetta and PNS Shifa Karachi.
Criteria of Nursing Job as a Trained Nurse, as Lieutenant
- Age – 18 to 28 Years
- Marital Status – Married / Unmarried
- Practical Nursing Diploma and Midwifery
- B.Sc (Genetic Nursing)
- Post (RN), B.Sc Nursing
- Candidates must be registered with the Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC)
- Priority will be given to certified post-basic specialized training courses i.e., ICU, OT, CCU etc from an Hospital or Institute that is recognized by PNC and who are aware of the care for patients.

Ineligibility Conditions for Nursing Jobs in Army
Candidates who have faced two rejections from the GHQ Selection Board,
Have been deemed medically unfit by the Appeal Medical Board,
Have voluntarily withdrawn, resigned, or been discharged from Armed Forces training academies/institutions due to disciplinary issues, character concerns, medical inefficiency, or a weak profile, are ineligible for BSc Nursing.
Additionally, candidates who have been dismissed or removed from any other government service are also not eligible for this program.
Initial Tests of AFNS
The preliminary assessments for Army Nursing Jobs encompass a series of examinations that candidates must successfully complete in order to proceed with subsequent medical evaluations.
1. Intelligence Tests
In intelligence assessments, students are required to complete a series of intelligence tests consisting of 75 to 100 questions. These tests encompass both Verbal Intelligence Tests and Non-Verbal Intelligence Tests. The allotted time for the entire test typically ranges from 30 to 40 minutes.
2. Academic Test
The candidate is required to pass the following tests in the academic examination.
Tests include medical examinations.
3. Initial Medical Examination
The Army Selection & Recruitment Centers will conduct the initial medical examination.
4. Final Interview
After undergoing a medical examination, the selected candidates will proceed to their final interview, which will be conducted by the GHQ Selection Board. The interviews will take place in Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Lahore, Multan, Karachi, and Quetta. Separate call up letters will be dispatched to inform the candidates about the interview details.
Documents required at Army Selection Centers for AFNS
- Please submit the original certificates, documents, and detailed marks sheets along with two sets of attested photocopies for each educational certificate or degree.
- Candidates who are currently employed in government institutions or semi-government departments must provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their respective establishment.
- Please provide an affidavit for the photocopy of the address.
- Include photocopies of the electronic National Identity Card.
- Three colored photographs, attested on both the front and back, are required.
- A postal order of Rs. 100/- (cross-bordered) should be made payable to the Director General Personnel Administration (DGPA), GHQ Rawalpindi.
- Please note that old National Identity Cards will not be accepted.
